Identity: Lyric Opera of Chicago

I created a new visual system for Lyric Opera of Chicago, and develop it into a system that can be used in various situations.

The elements will all be placed on the dark background with no restrained proportion, so it can be changed to correspond different situations.

The white lines are to imitate the curtains on the stage. If displayed on screen as a gif, the lines can emerge from both sides as curtains.

The logo will always be centered at the bottom, with lines around it, suggesting the main character on the stage.

The number of decorative lines on both sides can be decided according to the size of the background, the same treatment will happen on the column of the logotype as well.

The Flexibility in LOGO Font

I developed the logo typeface based on Scotch Roman Mt Std.

The typeface has a nice thick and thin contrast, which resonates with Lyric Opera's building's Art Deco style.
